The Initial Installation Costs and Long-term Maintenance Expenses of Artificial Grass:

The economy of using artificial grass in city civil works projects varies depending on factors such as initial installation costs, long-term maintenance expenses, and specific urban settings. While artificial grass may require higher upfront investment, its lower maintenance requirements and long-term cost savings make it a viable option for many urban landscapes, particularly in high-traffic areas and locations where water conservation and sustainability are priorities.

Artificial Grass Application

Compare The Initial Installation Costs and Long-term Maintenance Expenses of Artificial Grass Versus Natural Grass in City Civil Works Projects:

  1. Initial Installation Costs:

    • Artificial Grass: The initial installation costs of artificial grass typically include the cost of materials (artificial turf, infill, base materials), labor for site preparation, installation, and equipment rental. Artificial grass installation costs can vary depending on factors such as the type and quality of artificial turf, site conditions, and project size. However, artificial grass installations often involve higher upfront costs compared to natural grass due to the expenses associated with materials and labor.

    • Natural Grass: The initial installation costs of natural grass involve site preparation, soil amendment, seeding or sodding, irrigation system installation (if required), and labor costs. While natural grass installation costs may be lower than artificial grass initially, they can vary depending on factors such as soil condition, grading requirements, and seed or sod prices.

  2. Long-Term Maintenance Expenses:

    • Artificial Grass: Artificial grass has lower long-term maintenance expenses compared to natural grass. Once installed, artificial grass requires minimal maintenance, such as occasional cleaning to remove debris and regular grooming to maintain its appearance. There are no expenses associated with watering, mowing, fertilizing, or pest control, resulting in significant savings in maintenance costs over time.

    • Natural Grass: Natural grass requires ongoing maintenance, including watering, mowing, fertilizing, aerating, overseeding, pest control, and weed control. These maintenance activities incur recurring costs for water, labor, equipment, fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides. Over time, these expenses can add up, making natural grass more costly to maintain compared to artificial grass.

  3. Economic Feasibility in Different Urban Settings:

    • High-Traffic Areas: In urban settings with high-traffic areas such as parks, playgrounds, and sports fields, artificial grass may offer better economic feasibility due to its durability and lower maintenance requirements. The upfront investment in artificial grass can be justified by the long-term savings in maintenance costs and the ability to withstand heavy use without deteriorating.

    • Streetscapes and Medians: For streetscapes, medians, and other urban landscaping projects, the economic feasibility of artificial grass depends on factors such as aesthetics, durability, and maintenance preferences. While artificial grass may require higher initial investment, its ability to maintain a lush, green appearance without intensive maintenance may outweigh the long-term savings.

    • Residential and Commercial Landscapes: In residential and commercial landscapes, the economic feasibility of artificial grass depends on factors such as property size, landscaping goals, and budget constraints. While natural grass may offer a more traditional look, artificial grass can provide cost savings and convenience over time, especially in areas where water conservation is a priority or where maintenance resources are limited.

Artificial turf football grass installation:

For landscaping grass,it can be easily finished by yourself.

1) Position marking: Measure the site after the foundation is completed, and mark the lawn joints and cutting positions.

2) Lawn cutting: According to the re-measurement data, cut the artificial turf to a suitable size. Corners, special shape areas, etc. need to leave no less than 5CM to margin. (Note: Before cutting, the lawn roll needs to be opened and placed for 24 hours-48hours to release the stress of rolling.)

3) Lawn spreading: place the cut lawn in the marked position, open and spread. After the lawn is paved, there are no wrinkles and bulges. The seams are overlapped without gaps (leave 2-3CM seam cutting allowance at the seams).

4) Cutting shape: Cut the lawn along the special shape, corners and other shapes, and cut the excess parts into pieces. Cutting at once is prohibited.

5) Lawn seam connection: cut off the excess lawn at the seam, and there is no gap in the seam. Spread a 20-30cm wide joining tape along the seam of the lawn and place it under the lawn, so that the seam of the lawn is located in the center of the connection belt as much as possible.

6) Spray an appropriate amount of water on the lawn surface.
